1. Who we are

Dead Set Studio is a trading name of Dead Set Studio Ltd, a company registered in England and Wales (company number 12240275), registered office 20-22 Wenlock Road, London N1 7GU, United Kingdom. We are the controller of the personal data described in this policy. For anything to do with your data, email sales@deadsetstudio.co.uk.

2. What we collect

  • Order details: your name, delivery and billing address, email address, phone number if you give one, what you bought and your order history.
  • Payment details: payments are handled by our payment providers (Shopify Payments and PayPal). We never see or store your full card number.
  • Account details, if you create an account.
  • Messages you send us.
  • Your marketing choices.
  • Device and usage data, such as your IP address, browser, the pages you view and the items you add to your basket, collected with cookies and similar technologies (see section 6).

3. Why we use it and our lawful basis

  • To take, deliver and support your order, handle returns and refunds, and send order emails: contract.
  • To keep tax and accounting records: legal obligation.
  • To answer questions and complaints: legitimate interests (looking after our customers), or contract where it is about an order.
  • To prevent fraud and keep the shop secure: legitimate interests.
  • To send marketing emails: your consent or, for existing customers, our legitimate interest in telling you about similar products. Every email has an unsubscribe link.
  • Analytics and advertising cookies: your consent, given through our cookie banner.
  • To improve our website and products: legitimate interests.

4. Who we share it with

  • Shopify, which hosts our shop and checkout.
  • Our payment providers (Shopify Payments and PayPal).
  • Amazon, which stores our stock and packs and sends our orders through its Multi-Channel Fulfilment service, and the delivery companies that bring your order to you.
  • Analytics and advertising partners such as Google, only if you accept those cookies.
  • Professional advisers, and authorities where the law requires it.

Shopify may also use information about your visit for its own services, as explained in the Shopify Consumer Privacy Policy. We never sell your personal data.

5. Transfers outside the UK

Some of our providers, including Shopify, process data outside the UK. When they do, we rely on UK adequacy regulations or the UK International Data Transfer Agreement or Addendum to protect it.

6. Cookies

Essential cookies keep your basket and checkout working. Analytics and marketing cookies are only used if you accept them in our cookie banner. You can change your choice at any time by clearing the cookies for this website in your browser settings, after which the banner will ask you again.

7. How long we keep it

  • Orders and invoices: 6 years after the end of the financial year they relate to, as HMRC requires.
  • Customer accounts: until you close your account.
  • Marketing: until you unsubscribe. We then keep your email address on a do-not-contact list so we do not email you again.
  • Customer service emails: up to 2 years after the matter is closed.

8. Your rights

Under UK data protection law you can ask for a copy of your data, ask us to correct or delete it, object to or restrict how we use it, ask us to send it to you or to another company, and withdraw your consent at any time. Email sales@deadsetstudio.co.uk. We reply within one month.

9. Complaints

Please talk to us first. You can also complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk/make-a-complaint or on 0303 123 1113.

10. Children

Our shop is not aimed at children and we do not knowingly collect their data.

11. Changes to this policy

If we change this policy, we will update this page and the date at the top.
